Title Companies in Attorney States-North Carolina and West Virginia:Each state has specific requirements concerning what is required for a company to sell title insurance. Clients, please note as a point of clarification that SMG does not hold its self out to offer legal services, nor legal advise to any party. SMG clearly does sell title insurance and co-ordinates closing services, but all abstracting and legal opinions of title or property reports are prepared or supervised by NC and WV licensed attorneys who are in good standing with that states Bar-in accordance with the laws of those States. Further, each work independently of SMG. If legal advise is needed, you should seek independent legal counsel. SMG carries its own Errors and Omission's Insurance, protecting each client in the amount of 1 million per transaction, as well as Fidelity and Surety Bonds as required under state law. In VA, we are licensed with the State Bar under CRESPA, and in all states, appropriate licensing with the Insurance Commissioner are in place and regularly updated. SMG, Inc. prides itself in being an agent of Stewart Title, and contracts for independent reconciliation for each escrow account on a monthly basis.
